Reverend Kim Dorr-Tilley

Reverend Kim Dorr-Tilley

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Rev. Kim grew up in Denver, Colorado. She trained to be an actress. After graduating from college, she moved to Hollywood. In Hollywood, she worked in the entertainment industry as a Casting Director and a Talent Agent for over thirty years.

After becoming a Christian, she became involved in Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. She served as an Elder prior to discerning God’s call to enter ministry. After receiving her MDiv degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2002, she was called as an Associate Pastor at the same church, working bi-vocationally in both ministry and entertainment for many years.

She started a ministry to the entertainment industry which became a cornerstone of the fledgling parachurch Entertainment Ministries of that time. At Bel Air Presbyterian, she has served as both Associate and Executive Pastor.

She radiates the joy of knowing Jesus. She is a gifted preacher with powerful and meaningful messages. She has given a Ted Talk entitled, “It’s About Time for Women to Remember the Source of Their Identity.” She has excellent leadership and administrative skills. She is also gifted at helping to set vision and believes very strongly in outreach.

She is married to her husband Bob and has four adult stepchildren and many step-grandchildren along with a dog named Tebow. She is an avid Denver Broncos fan.

On March 3, Rev. Kim Dorr-Tilley was unanimously called as the new Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View. She led worship and the sermon was titled, “A Discourse on Discipleship”. She focused on the Beatitudes, and included references to one of her favorite theologians, Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He was a Lutheran minister, a man of great courage, and follower of Christ. On April 9, 1945, he was hanged at Flossenburg, Germany, only days before the Americans arrived. The last words of this brilliant and courageous opponent of Nazism were “This is the end-for me, the beginning of life.”

Everyone enjoyed meeting Rev. Kim and her husband Bob, their family, and longtime friends who joined them for this important Sunday. Pastor Kim and Bob have a warm countenance evident of their love for the Lord.
