LITTLE ACORN SCHOOL

A Christian Preschool since 1981 Open to all children ages 2.5 to 5 years regardless of religious affiliation. Little Acorn School is a non-profit organization sponsored by The First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View as a vital part of its ministry to the community. It is licensed by the California State Department of Social Services.

OUR PURPOSE: Our program and purpose are directed toward children in the hope that they grow to know themselves as unique individuals and learn to understand themselves in relation to peers, family, teachers, community, and God.

OUR PROGRAM: Daily routines include time for activity and relaxation, nutrition and health habits, free play, literature, music, rhythm and creative movement and a variety of art activities with special attention to perceptual motor development. Parents may choose to have their child attend two, three, four or five days per week.

When available, Gymnastics, Dance and Spanish classes are offered by independent providers.

Reading Bible stories to the children is done by the Pastor monthly.

STAFF: Our director is professionally trained and experienced. All teachers and teacher aides meet and exceed the requirements that are stated by our licensing agency.

 

ELIGIBILITY: Children are admitted from 2.5 to 5 years of age. Enrollment is non-discriminatory, according equal treatment to all, with the understanding that the child is emotionally and physically mature enough to benefit from the program. Children are enrolled on a space-available basis.

 

DAILY SCHEDULE: The school is open for Preschool/DayCare from 7:00AM to 5:55 PM daily, five days a week. The Preschool program is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM or 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM each day. Normal pick-up time for children is before 5:55 PM.

TUITION: A non-refundable registration fee of $40.00 per child is payable with application. Tuition is paid by month in advance. Adaptable schedules for Day Care range from $160.00 to $751.00 monthly. Preschool monthly fees range from $180.00 for two mornings per week to $432.00 for three mornings per week.

CLOTHING: Simple playclothes are recommended. Dress your child for outdoor play as well as indoor play.

SNACKS AND REST: A nutritious snack is served mid-morning and mid-afternoon. The children bring their own lunches. LAS accommodates special-diet restrictions if necessary. Adequate rest periods are placed according to daily needs.

VISITING: Parents and guardians are welcome to visit upon notice to the director. Unenrolled children may not enter into classrooms as per regulations of the Department of Social Services. For this reason, please plan a short visit if you have a child with you.
