Advent 2017 Mission Opportunities

This Christmas season, we have a variety of mission opportunities for Advent.

Giving Tree

In the Church Narthex, our Christmas tree will be adorned with giving tags.  The tags, from the Salvation Army Christmas Giving program show the age and gender of children and adults in need.  Choose a tag and purchase a gift for the person. Attach the gift tag to the new UNWRAPPED gift and place it under the tree. Giving tags will be available beginning Sunday November 19.  Please place gifts under the tree on or before Sunday, December 10.

Adopt a Family

Adopt-A-Family is a Salvation Army holiday program designed to assist families who are in crisis as a result of unemployment, homelessness, medical issues or other difficult circumstances and who otherwise wouldn’t have the resources to celebrate the holidays.  This program provides a wonderful holiday experience for families at a critical time in their lives.

This year we will adopt a family, and the Mission Committee will purchase items they need. If you wish to make a donation, please note on it that it is for the adopted family and place it in the offering.

Christmas Joy Offering

The Christmas Joy offering is an opportunity to share God’s love with those who serve the church. Presbyterians have long given generously, through the Christmas Joy Offering to help those ministers, other church workers, and their families in need, as well as students at racial ethnic schools and colleges of the PC(USA).

On December 10, special offering envelopes will be available to give a gift which equally supports the Assistance Program of the Board of Pensions and racial ethnic schools and colleges of the PC(USA). Please return your offering envelope by Sunday, December 17. Click here for additional information on the Christmas Joy offering.

Each Advent season we decorate the Sanctuary with an abundance of donated poinsettias.  Donation forms are available on the Connection table beginning Sunday November 19. On the form you can indicate if you would like the plant to be delivered to a shut-in.

Poinsettia Delivery Advent Sundays

Beginning Sunday December 3, worshipers have an opportunity to deliver a poinsettia to a member of the community who is unable to attend services. If you would like to volunteer, pick up a delivery card in the Narthex directly after the10:00 am worship service.
